EDL Protest
The English Defence League (EDL) protest on the 9th October 2010 is deeply concerning for the residents of Leicester especially the peaceful Muslim community.
The Islamic Centre wishes to make it clear that the Leicester Central Mosque is NOT the venue for any counter-protest this Saturday.
The Muslim Defence League Facebook website makes an allegation that Leicester Central Mosque is the venue for an assembly point before a counter demonstration against the English Defence League (EDL) this Saturday. The Islamic Centre Leicester is deeply upset by the false website information and is urging Muslims NOT to take part in any counter demonstrations and to avoid Leicester city centre this Saturday.
The Islamic Centre Leicester is working with the Police and Leicester City Council to celebrate interfaith relations this Sunday and believe that the best way to counter any anti Muslim demonstration is to follow the peaceful example of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
There will be a lot of information in the next few days containing rumours, gossip and inaccuracies via text or/ and emails.
