Quran Burning Protest
In response to the outrageous proposed plan of burning the copies of Quran on 11th September by a Church in Florida (USA), Muslims in Leicester will be observing an evening to highlight the sanctity of Quran at Leicester Central Mosque on Saturday 11th September 2010 at 10:30 pm.
All our Muslims Brothers and Sisters are invited to attend this peaceful protest.
Muslims in Leicester will be protesting against this provocative action in a peaceful manner by reciting the Quran collectively, so that the action of few mischievous individuals may be exposed to the world and the very fact of Qurans infallibility may be established.
We would like to record the protest in the strongest possible manner and wish to communicate to those extremists that by burning Quran this divine book cannot be eliminated. It will remain the last guidance for the Muslims and the rest of the world and its teaching will prevail throughout the world.
Maulana Shahid Raza OBE, Head Imam of Islamic Centre said, “We have condemned this unholy action and we will ensure that such anti faith elements will not be successful in damaging our exemplary interfaith relations in the city of Leicester.”
Malik M Salim MBE, Chairman of the Islamic Centre appealed the Muslim Community to remain calm and not to violate the civil code of conduct and at the same time exercise their legitimate right of peaceful protest.
