Subject 02: Exploring Shirk (Polytheism)

Exploring Shirk (Polytheism)

Summary:

As Muslims, we must all ensure we abhor and refrain from Shirk which in Allah’s own words, is the one crime He is unwilling to forgive.
Unfortunately, there are Muslims who have labelled several justified and proven acts of worship as forms of Shirk. The subject will highlight a classical interpretation of Shirk and compare it with Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab and his followers’ interpretation of it. We will assess the worth of their opinion and ask whether Shirk is as widespread in this Umma as some seem to think.

Also, the subject will look at the issue of Takfir, which is calling a Muslim a non-believer.
