The moon will not be visible anywhere in the world on the evening of Saturday 11th August 2018.

The rules of the Umm al-Qura calendar system of Saudi Arabia allow for the start of the new Islamic month on the (their) 29th night if:

1. The geocentric conjunction (new moon) occurs before sunset over Mecca. 
2. The moon sets after the sun over Mecca

The moon at sunset in Mecca will be 5 hrs 56 Mins old and will set after 12 minutes. Saudi is expected to announce the start of Zul-Hajj as Sunday 12th August 2018.

The moon will be easily visible across the world on the evening Sunday 12th August 2017. 




The moon is not expected to be seen anywhere in the world on Saturday 11th August 2018 but will be easily visible across much of the world on Sunday 12th August 2017. 



Eid-al-Adha is expected to be celebrated across the world on Wednesday 22nd August 2018.
